Stacking The Shelves is a weekly (or in my case monthly) meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and it’s all about sharing the books you’ve added to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!
Received for Review:
A Master of Djinn by P. Djeli Clark
This COVER!!! It’s what initially drew me in, but then the synopsis is pretty amazing as well. Mystery and magic and a gorgeous alternate Cairo. Thanks to Tordotcom for the eARC.
The Councillor by E.J. Beaton
This is another fantasy with a touch of mystery. In this case, a scholar is appointed to choice the new ruler while she also investigates the death of the previous queen. Thanks to DAW for the eARC!
The Ivies by Alexa Donne
I think I’m on a disturbing trend! This is about a group of highly successful teens who will stop at nothing to get into an Ivy League school and apparently that includes murder! I’ve been much pickier about what YA I choose and this one sounded like a nice change of pace from all the fantasy I’ve been devouring. Thanks to Crown for the eARC.
My Purchases:
From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
A little break from the murder books. I’ve seen so much about this book series and decided to check it out. It was awful, but I COULD NOT STOP READING. I may eventually pick up the next book when I need a good chuckle. I’ll be posting a review soon!
The Bright and Breaking Sea by Chloe Neill
This was a reallllly fantastic book and I’m glad I picked up the audio copy! I knew I’d never get around to reading the eARC I had and the narration was great and I’ll be keeping on with this series.
The Guest List by Lucy Foley
Annnnd back to murder. This is a contemporary murder mystery set on a remote island off the Irish coast and it occurs at a wedding no less! This is my current audio read and I’m really enjoying it!
I have an eARC of A Master of Djinn too, I’m looking forward to it! And thanks for reminding me, I need to buy a copy of The Guest List too😁

The Councillor is one that originally passed me by – neither the title nor the cover caught my eye – but suddenly I find myself wondering whether I have room to fit it in.

The cover is quite underwhelming, and I almost passed it by. I saw someone else recommend it and changed my mind!
