Stacking the Shelves: 3/12/22

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly (or in my case monthly) meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and it’s all about sharing the books you’ve added to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!

Received for Review:

Many thanks to Orbit for the finished copies of Age of Ash, The Justice of Kings, and The Bloody Throne and for the exciting ARC of The Bladed Faith by David Dalglish

It’s been ages since I received physical ARCs from another publisher, so many thank to Rebellion for Flames of Mira by Clay Harmon and The Carnival of Ash by Tom Beckerlegge! I don’t usually request physical ARCs from this publisher because the international shipping cost them so much and I feel bad about it (lol)!

The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller
The emperor’s necromancer mistress must solve his murder and choose which heir inherits. Quite frankly, this sounds amazing! Thanks to Tor Books for the eARC.

What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
At this point, I’ll read any and all of T. Kingfisher’s books including the horror. This cover is absolutely wild, by the way! This is another lovely eARC courtesy of Tor Books!

Kingdoms of Death by Christopher Ruocchio
My March is so busy I think I’ll actually pick up the audiobook of this when it’s out! I’m VERY MUCH looking forward to this, as I think the whole series is criminally underrated. Thanks to DAW for the eARC.

Upgrade by Blake Crouch
This guy writes the craziest thrillers and I can’t wait to see how this one plays out! Many thanks to Ballantine Books for the eARC.

Locklands by Robert Jackson Bennett
Another of my favorite authors is wrapping up yet another series and oh, what an ending it will be! Thanks to Del Rey Books for the eARC.

The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne
Definitely one of my most anticipated books of the year! I cannot wait to see what happens and how certain character develop, especially after such a wild ending in book 1! Thanks to Orbit for the eARC!

The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
I don’t know much about this other than it’s a retelling of the Island of Doctor Moreau (which I haven’t read) and it’s set in Mexico. It looks cool though! Thanks to Del Rey for the eARC.

The Assassins of Consequence by Marshall Ryan Maresca
Well this release certainly took me by surprise! I had no idea this was coming out until I got an email about it from the publisher! Thanks to DAW for the eARC!

A Mirror Mended by Alix E. Harrow
I don’t usually go for novellas, but I LOVED the first one and I’ve been looking forward to this since last year!! Can’t wait to see where it goes! Thanks to Tordotcom for the eARC.

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher
T. Kingfisher is fast becoming a favorite author, so obviously I wanted to pick up her latest book featuring gravewitches, fairy godmothers, and demon possessed chickens. Many thanks to Tor Books for the eARC.

The Warrior by Stephen Aryan
The spoils of joining cover reveal tours!! What will happen to Kell Kressia as this duology wraps up? Will he become an unwitting hero again? Many thanks to Angry Robot Books! 😀

My Purchases:

Little change of pace for me – I picked up a couple graphic novels! I’ve heard tons of praise for Lore Olympus and I may have been binging the Webtoons version for the last week after finishing Volume One. MIND MGMT was a recommendation from a friend (apparently there’s a board game??) and it sounded pretty awesome. And obviously, who would I be if I didn’t immediately buy House of Sky and Breath immediately?

And this next lovely, massive block of cover pictures is a result of a big Audible sale, a bunch of Kindle daily deals and and a TBR that would crush me if most of it weren’t digital.

  1. This is the most exciting book haul ever! I have a lot of these as well, there are just too many exciting books coming out this year. I’m a little jealous because I am still waiting on my NetGalley approval for The Daughter of Doctor Moreau😬

    1. LOL – I’ve been putting it off for a month, so I’ve accumulated SO MANY BOOKS!! I hope you get approved for The Daughter of Doctor Moreau soon! My approval came through on Thursday (iirc).

  2. Wow Rebecca! 32 books in a month is impressive REALLY IMPRESSIVE—though I do not envy your TBR now 😂 But at least you’ll have a lot of options! How’d you manage to get a copy of the Warrior? I haven’t seen it yet.

    1. This is actually a 2 month haul 😁 I decided to skip February apparently. As for The Warrior… I participated in the cover reveal, and snagged it a little early! I think it’s going to be available to other reviewers in a couple weeks!
