Stacking the Shelves: 12/17/22

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly (or in my case monthly) meme hosted by Reading Reality and it’s all about sharing the books you’ve added to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course audiobooks and ebooks!

Received for Review:

The latter months of the year are always a little slower on physical ARCs, so I’ve only received The Ivory Tomb by Melissa Caruso and The Foxglove King by Hannah Whitten, which isn’t pictured because I foisted it upon a friend as soon as I finished and demanded she read it immediately.

Arca by G.R. Macallister
I really loved the first book, Scorpica, and am really looking forward to this installment. This is set in a matriarchal society where there has been a curse that caused the “Drought of Girls” where no females were born for many years. It’s an exciting political fantasy but with plenty of magic!

The Bone Shard War by Andrea Stewart
2023 is going to be a great year for finishing up series and I really can’t wait to start reading this! I really have no idea how it’s going to end, but I really just want more of Mephi and his odd little magic creature buddies.

City of Nightmares by Rebecca Schaeffer
Conspiracies, cults, and the possibility of waking up as your own nightmare! Enough said.

The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan
And my most anticipated release of the first quarter of 2023! I am SO excited to read this and will definitely be doing so in the next couple of weeks. Perhaps I’ll make it my first book of 2023, just like I did with it’s predecessor earlier this year.

Thanks to Orbit Books, Saga, and Clarion Books for the eARCS!

My Purchases:

I’ve picked up a few books for myself in the last month, mostly thanks to some awesome holiday sales. I couldn’t resist adding Lore Olympus Volumes 2 and 3 to my collection because I adore this webcomic and the hardcovers are so pretty! Surprisingly, I don’t have any subscription box books to share this month due to numerous shipping delays, however, it looks like several will be shipping in the next two weeks!

Only two new audiobook editions recently, as I’ve been reading through a few backlist books I picked up during an Audible sale. I just finished up Broken Homes by Ben Aaronovitch, which was great and will be starting Ashes of Man by Christopher Ruocchio next!
