Backlist Series I Want to Read in 2023

I’ve been building up a list of older books I want to make time to read in 2023, so I thought I’d share them! Because clearly I don’t have enough in progress series and review books already. I’ll just be listing the first book in each series to keep things simple and tidy. I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of these, especially if they were a favorite of yours!

The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams
This is one that I initially heard about from Elliot Brooks on YouTube and she totally raves about this series! Luck would have it that it was one of the series featured in The Broken Binding subscription, so I have these lovely hardcovers just waiting for me to pick them up.

Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett
I’ve been wanting to check out the Discworld books for years now, particularly Guards! Guards! and I snagged this one on Kindle Daily Deals recently. I was actually waiting for the re-release of the audiobooks, but this might be better since I think it will be a quick read. While I’m sure I won’t read all of Discworld in a single year, I’d like to at least read the City Watch books.

The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson
I’ve heard many good things about this series from various fantasy readers on multiple platforms. I love a good political fantasy too, so we shall see if this works for me!

Empire in Black and Gold by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Yet another book I picked up ages ago with intentions to read it *soon* and yet another chunky series that I almost certainly won’t finish in a single year. I know I enjoy Tchaikovsky’s writing and I can’t wait to see how he handles an epic fantasy series of this length!
