Cover- The Frozen Crown

I initially skimmed past this when I was browsing Goodreads, but I keep seeing the lovely cover and I keep clicking on it!! It’s kind of growing on me and the synopsis sounds like something I’d really enjoy – courtly intrigue, secret magical abilities, and I’m hoping for some romantic TENSION. Did I mention the lovely cover? The city reminds me of depictions of Darujhistan from the Malazan books and well, I’m a big nerd for those. This will be released January 2021!

Cover- How the Multiverse Got Its Revenge

YESSS!!!! The sequel I’ve been waiting for!! How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse was a surprise favorite and I loved how the ending opened up opportunity for a whole new story. Well, that story is almost here and geez, the release date is really coming up fast! I’m ready for a new adventure with alien threats, bio weapons, and sarcasm. How the Multiverse Got Its Revenge will be out October 6, 2020.

Waiting on Wednesday: Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell

Cover- Play of Shadows

OH MY LOOK AT THIS COVER!!!! Play of Shadows is set in the same world as the Greatcoats series and is apparently part of the overarching saga. I admit (somewhat guiltily) that I haven’t finished the Greatcoats books, but maybe I’ll get there eventually. This sounds fantastic and the main character is a duelist and son of two Greatcoats… How exciting! This will be released February 2021.

Cover- The Bright and Breaking Sea

I am so on board (PUN INTENDED) with all the seafaring fantasies that are being published this year!! The Bright and Breaking Sea sounds like a rollicking good adventure. Kit Brightling is one of few female captains and has a magical affinity with the sea. She’s also been saddled with an unwanted partner and an assignment to rescue a spy from a den of pirates. SO EXCITING!! This will be released in November 2020 so keep your eye to the spyglass.

Cover- City of the Uncommon Thief

City of the Uncommon Thief is just… intriguing. It’s really the only word that fits the synopsis. I’m intrigued by the black iron spikes mentioned and why this Errol Thebes is better off dead. It sounds dark and delightfully unique, with a description leaning towards an adult fantasy rather than YA. I do hope I can get my hands on a copy before the November 2020 release date!

Waiting on Wednesday: Daughter of the Serpentine by E.E. Knight

Cover- Daughter of the Serpentine

First of all, how absolutely stunning is this cover!? I love the colors and would 10/10 pick this up based on the cover alone. Now, I absolutely loved Novice Dragoneer when it came out last year, so it was a no-brainer to put in a request for this (fingers crossed!!). Daughter of the Serpentine continues to follow Ileth as she trains to become a fully fledged Dragoneer one day but this time there are PIRATES. I’ve been loving the pirate/high seas adventure books that have been popping up lately! This will be out in November 2020!

Cover- The Trouble with Peace

At last!!! The US cover for The Trouble With Peace has arrived! I can’t wait to see what Savine dan Glokta, Leo dan Brock, and Rikke get into in this installment. I loved the new setting and characters (both new and old) in A Little Hatred and find that Abercrombie just keeps writing amazing stuff. This will be released September 15 2020!

Cover- The Way Back

First of all, this cover is absolutely gorgeous and second – it claim to be perfect for fans of Neil Gaiman and Phillip Pullman! The Way Back is the story of two teenagers who are swept into the Far Country where ghosts and demons reside in Jewish folklore. It sounds absolutely captivating and it’s September 2020 release is just in time for the beginning of autumn. I know you people love reading scary stuff, particularly during spooky season.

Cover- The Mask of Mirrors

First of all, THIS COVER!! It is LOVELY!!! And second of all? The Mask of Mirrors is actually written by Marie Brennan and Alyc Helms under the pseudonym M.A. Carrick. The synopsis gives me strong Lies of Locke Lamora vibes and I’m really, really excited to get my hands on a copy! This will be released in January 2021 (the release date was recently pushed back a bit).

Waiting on Wednesday: The Seventh Perfection by Daniel Polansky

Cover- The Seventh Perfection

I haven’t yet read any of Daniel Polansky’s books, though they’ve certainly been on all my wishlists. His latest novella, The Seventh Perfection, sounds perfectly fantastical and will hopefully be a great place to start reading his work! This is under 200 pages, but the synopsis is amazing and I can’t wait to read it! It will be released September 2020.
