“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme originally hosted on Breaking the Spine but has since linked up with “Can’t Wait Wednesday” at Wishful Endings now that the original creator is unable to host it anymore. This is a great way to share upcoming released you’re excited about!
I stumbled across this in a Reddit post linked to the cover reveal a few days ago and was quite excited! The God is Not Willing is the start to a series focusing on Karsa Orlong, who wasn’t my favorite character in Malazan Book of the Fallen, but I can’t help but to be excited for another return to this world. The cover is amazing and readers don’t have to wait too long for the release – it’s rumored to be July 1, 2021 for the UK Bantam Press edition. As if that weren’t enough, Ian Esslemont’s next release called Jhistal (Path of Ascendancy #4?) may be out later this year as well.

That is good news. I’ll wait to be excited though until he finishes it. After he simply abandoned the Kharkanas trilogy and delayed this for years (this series was mooted about since around ’13) I’m not very optimistic 😦
However, I AM optimistic about Esslemont’s contribution. From the title I’m guessing it’s a continuation of his Malaz Empire series and not the Path of Ascendancy series. Whichever it belongs to though, I’ll be very happy to read it 🙂

Looks like he’ll be working on the last of the Kharkanas trilogy soon!! I’ve totally forgotten where I read that – maybe his Facebook page? New stuff from Erikson and/or Esslemont is always exciting!
